Teacher of the Year

Pictured with Director of Schools Dr. Del Phillips and State Representative Debra Maggart are Sumner County Schools district-wide teachers of the year winners. They are: David Collins from Union Elementary for the k thru 4 level, Delise Sanders from Madison Creek Elementary for the 5 thru 8 level and Amy Howell from Gallatin High School for the high school level. They were recognized by the school district and COMPASS during a luncheon on Friday.

Sumner County Schools reaches agreement with SCEA

The Sumner County Board of Education is pleased to announce that it has reached an amicable resolution of the Federal litigation with the Sumner County Education Association (SCEA). The Board approved the mediated agreement negotiated by the Director of Schools, Board representatives, and representatives of SCEA during its April 17, 2012 meeting. The agreement is consistent with existing Board policy and is designed to continue the Board’s support of our teachers. Click this slide for further information regarding the agreement.

Student Accountability: Taking on a New Role in Tennessee

Beginning this semester, high school students who are participating in courses with a state-mandated end-of-course examination, will see their exam result averaging 25 percent of their second nine-week grade. For students in grades six through eight, the TCAP score for each subject area will count as 20 percent of their second semester grade. For students in grades three through five, the TCAP score will count as 15 percent of their second semester grade. Click this slide for further information.
